Taylor Keyes,

Owner/Head Trainer

My family dynamic was less than traditional growing up, meaning my mother was the main provider and my Dad was dealt with a special set of circumstances leaving him “disabled”. I say it that way because I truly hate that word. Disabled. Because though society labels it as so, I have watched my Dad my whole life defy the very limits that was set on him. Which set a fire in me from a young age to help others do just that. I watched my family struggle and sacrifice and live a life that they felt “they had to” to give me a better one. So when it came my turn, I wanted to make sure I didn’t waste it and at the end of my days, I could say I gave it everything I got. My twenties brought me some hard times, 2 cervical cancer diagnoses, an autoimmune disease, lots of loss, and lots of change. It was during this time, I had to relearn how to use my body and learned a lot about myself. I am forever learning.

As an only child and oldest grandchild, I spent a lot of time in solitude. So I grew up fast and learned a lot on my own. So when faced with hardship, my way of coping was physical activity. It was a healthy way to get involved with other peers, build community, and be held accountable.

TK TRAINING started in the back of my car in 2019. I was asked by some local gym members that took my classes to come to their home and offer 1:1 personal training and group training. It started as a side hustle to supplement my income. Then the pandemic shut gyms down. So I began meeting people in their driveways, basements, and recreation centers. Once things began opening, I was reluctant to just go back to a “normal job” and though I loved what I did, I dreaded it every time I pulled into the parking lot. Mid 2021, life threw me a curve ball, and it was sink or swim. So knowing me, I don’t drown easily. I decided to swim. With God’s help, I opened up my own studio in downtown Hickory.

I don’t want TK to be succumbed to just nutrition and physical activity because health is SO MUCH MORE. It is all-encompassing wellness. TK is about creating a quality life. I fully believe that what you put in, you get out. I believe it can start there and feed out into ALL aspects of our lives. My vision is to build a platform of people ready to do the work both internal and external to achieve their best selves.

I grew up in Hickory & went off to college at Appalachian State where I obtained a Bachelors in Exercise Science. I moved back home in 2019 to help with the family business, where I met my wife & best friend, Caitlin. We have been married for 3 years & share a love for animals. We have 4 of our own: our big boy: Roscoe (our rotweiler) & our crazy cats: Sissy, Itsy-Bitsy & Butters.

I have always loved sports & all things active. I am looking forward to getting back to my roots & doing what what I love. I enjoy helping others in whatever way I can. I believe to do that best through fitness & nutrition. Taylor & I agree on fundamental training methodologies emphasizing sustainable lifestyle changes, injury prevention & holistic approaches. I know this is THE way to ensure long-term success for my clients & the community we serve.

Hey ya’ll! I recently moved to the Hickory area after marrying my husband, Ben, this past April. We’re so excited to be expecting our first baby in February 2025.

I graduated from Gardner-Webb University in 2023 with a bachelors degree in Exercise Science with a concentration in Health Fitness. I have a passion for facilitating healthy lifestyles in our clients, but I don’t take lightly the roles and responsibilities I have at home.

When I am not at TK, I’m actively pursuing homemaking, homeschooling for our little one, and doing my part to ensure mine and my husband’s home grows in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. I’m so excited to meet and work with ya’ll!

Taylor is masterful in her ability to teach technique in lifting, nutrition, and to embrace the process.There is always an encouraging word and a new challenge in each session.
